We had to build the tools first
THUG2 keeps its scripts as compiled bytecode inside packed archives, so modding it meant writing the toolchain before writing a single mod: a script recompiler that round-trips 398 of the game’s 399 script files byte for byte, an archive packer, and an engine that builds the whole edition from source. All of it is open.
